12 Ways Women Have Replaced Men With Technology

There’s no denying the obvious: men have served a useful purpose in the evolutionary development of the human race. However, developments in science and technology are rapidly advancing, allowing women to slowly, but surely, replace the men in their lives. Are men destined to go the way of gills and the vestigial tail? Maybe not, but here are 12 ways in
which men are becoming increasingly obsolete to the needs of women.

Female Hysteria

Female hysteria was a once-common medical diagnosis, made exclusively in women, which is today no longer recognized by modern medical authorities as a medical disorder. Its diagnosis and treatment were routine for many hundreds of years in Western Europe. Hysteria was widely discussed in the medical literature of the Victorian era. Women considered to be suffering from it exhibited a wide array of symptoms including faintness, nervousness, insomnia, fluid retention, heaviness in abdomen, muscle spasm, shortness of breath, irritability, loss of appetite for food or sex, and “a tendency to cause trouble”.

Ouch! Can You Really Break Your Penis?

Ever since heartthrob television doctor Mark Sloan had a sexual mishap on last night’s episode of TV hit show Grey’s Anatomy, bloggers around the globe have been buzzing about a bizarre and horrifying condition called “broken penis syndrome”. For those who didn’t catch last night’s hot and steamy love scene between Sloan (played by actor Eric Dane) and “intern” Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh), be advised: it ended painfully–very painfully. At least for Sloan, who suffered a severe injury to his manhood, which prompted a slew of rumors among hospital staff about which woman “broke Sloan’s penis,” according to ABC’s online recap of the episode.

Given that there are no bones in the penis, can it really break? It turns out there is an unfortunate injury termed “penile fracture” that can indeed occur during sexual intercourse. We asked Hunter Wessells, chair of the urology department at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle (also home to the show’s Grace Hospital), to describe the condition and how it can happen.

Porn Kings to D.C. – Help Us Through Hard Times

Joe Francis and Larry Flynt claim the economy has made America’s sexual appetite go limp, so they’re going to the one place where sex is always rampant — Congress.

Flynt (the “Hustler” guy) and Francis (the “Girls Gone Wild” dude) are asking the government for a $5 billion bailout, claiming the adult entertainment industry has taken a huge shot to the face because of the downturn — citing the fact that XXX DVD sales are down 22% from a year ago.

“With all this economic misery and people losing all that money, sex is the farthest thing from their mind,” Flynt says. “It’s time for Congress to rejuvenate the sexual appetite of America.”

Francis sees his industry like the big three automakers, only BIGGER: “Congress seems willing to help shore up our nation’s most important businesses; we feel we deserve the same consideration.”

Francis says he’s going to D.C. to personally make the pitch. Sounds like someone has a bone to pick.

Behind Liz Cheney’s group, a weird legacy of torture

February 9, 2010

The arrest of an Army sergeant (and Iraq veteran) who allegedly waterboarded his 4-year-old daughter for failing to recite the alphabet is sickening. Yet it may be the kind of news we must come to expect if, as a society, the United States determines that torture is an acceptable method of securing information and inducing [...]

Assure child abuse registry is fair

February 9, 2010

Last week, Greg Geist drove from his home in Carroll to the State Capitol to attend a subcommittee hearing. Lawmakers were discussing an issue that has affected him and thousands of other Iowans: the rights of those on the state’s child abuse registry.
Legislation being considered would require the state to respond to appeals within a [...]

Online campaign raises child abuse awareness with cartoons

February 9, 2010

It’s a sad fact that children as young as five years old are targeted by abusers online. So, it makes sense to raise awareness of online safety by sending a message straight to them, in a way they can understand, rather than preaching to their parents.
Now, several online safety awareness cartoons are being launched on [...]
